Accomplishments and Plans for Lansing’s Future

Lansing’s time is now!

Under Schor’s leadership, Lansing is seeing billions in economic development and growth. This growth means more good paying jobs for residents, more housing options for all incomes, and more services and amenities necessary for a thriving community.

Crime in all major categories, is also going down with an increased focus on police funding, and city investments in intervention and prevention initiatives.

Some of the major development projects that are currently underway include:

New City Hall: Construction is about to start on a modern home to city government with a one-stop customer service center for residents.

Current City Hall: Schor’s plan to sell the current, outdated City Hall and transform the mid-century modern structure into a hotel and dining complex is underway.

Ovation Center for Music & Arts: The new Ovation Center is taking shape on South Washington Square further transforming nights and weekends in downtown Lansing.

Public Safety & District Court Complex: Schor’s plan for a state-of-the-art facility that will be home to the Lansing Police Department, Fire Department Administration, District Court, and a new fire training complex is under construction.

LG Battery Plant: This massive project will see the continued creation of more than 1,500 good jobs.

Infrastructure: Thanks to funding from the federal government, we will be installing up to 50 EV charging stations in the area, plant hundreds of trees to increase our canopy cover, and completely rebuild a bridge over the Red Cedar River near REO Town. In addition, Schor is spending millions from city funds to repair more streets and sidewalks than ever.
