LANSING - Mayor Andy Schor kicked off his week of Lansing School Board Member endorsements with the endorsement of Lansing School Board President Gabrielle Lawrence.
Mayor Schor and School Board President Gabrielle Lawrence have worked closely to support Lansing students. During the pandemic, the city and Lansing Schools created a Learning Lab at the Foster Center to allow children to attend remote school with supervision while parents returned to work. This partnership helped over fifty families sustain themselves during the pandemic.
“It has been a huge advantage to the Lansing School District to have a Mayor who is not only an advocate for the district, but is also a parent of two Lansing School District students. Mayor Schor has helped to support the district through two successful millage campaigns and has been a wonderful partner who shares a common belief that the success of the city and the school district go hand-in-hand,” Lawrence said.
“It is an honor to receive the endorsement of Lansing School School Board President Gabrielle Lawrence, who has been a tremendous advocate for the safety and education of our children,” said Mayor Schor. “Together, we have worked to benefit the children of Lansing, whether through providing life skills and financial assistance or getting through this pandemic. I look forward to the continued partnership with President Lawrence.”
Mayor Schor knows that our children are Lansing’s future, and through working with Lansing School Board members, we can continue to make Lansing a great city for all.
Lawrence is the first of many school board members to endorse Mayor Schor. Mayor Schor has a growing list of endorsers. She is joined by Senator Gary Peters, Governor Gretchen Whitmer, half a dozen labor unions, small business owner Gregory Eaton, former Mayor Tony Benavides, and many other neighborhood leaders, Lansing and regional elected officials, small business owners, and others. Schor also recently finished the release of his vision for Lansing’s future, which will be updated throughout the campaign trail.
