LANSING- Mayor Andy Schor announced today the endorsement of Lansing School Board Member Guillermo Lopez.
“Mayor Schor works with our diverse communities that make up Lansing, and is the person we need to get the job done. He has his sights set on moving Lansing from a great to outstanding place to live for all our citizens. He has strong visions and an even stronger work ethic,” said Guillermo Lopez.
“Guillermo is a leader in the City of Lansing, not just on the school board but in so many areas that make our city great. I am grateful to receive his endorsement for my reelection campaign.” Mayor Schor said. “He puts his all into the Lansing community, and I’m excited to have someone with his determination supporting my vision for Lansing.”
Lopez is a leader in education and the Latino community. He helps promote and celebrate our multiculturalism in a variety of ways, including supporting wonderful activities like the annual Fiesta. Lopez serves on many boards and commissions to improve the lives of Lansing residents, including the Lansing Police Board of Commissioners.
Mayor Schor has expanded his relationships with school districts (traditional, public, charter, and private) as well as Michigan State University, Lansing Community College, Davenport, and other educational institutions to aid all students in Lansing. His Regionalism and Schools platform outlines his vision for the next four years, including the city’s partnership with Lansing schools and others.
Guillermo Lopez is the final installment in the Mayor’s School Board Endorsement week, though more endorsements in the education community will be shared in the coming months. School Board Members are joined by Senator Gary Peters, Governor Gretchen Whitmer, half a dozen labor unions, small business owner Gregory Eaton, former Mayor Tony Benavides, and many other neighborhood leaders, Lansing and regional elected officials, small business owners, and others.
